How to brief a sliding or swing glass entrance for a shop in Yanbu or another Saudi project.
Start with visitor movement
Describe the entrance before choosing its appearance. Will it serve individuals, shopping trolleys or both? Does it open directly outdoors or into an internal lobby? Explain operating hours, busy periods and the intended use. Searches for automatic glass doors or sliding glass entrances can return very different systems. Send a photograph and a simple circulation sketch so the proposal addresses the entrance rather than merely matching a product image.
Sliding or swing operation?
A sliding leaf travels sideways, while a swing leaf needs a swept opening area. Ditec describes swing operators for both existing and new doors, but that does not make every existing door suitable. Request a review of the frame, hinges, travel and available space. Treat conversion from manual to automatic operation as a complete system assessment rather than simply adding a motor.
Read the actual model limits
The Ditec REX brochure distinguishes single- and double-leaf capacities and identifies optional backup and control features. Use that as a reason to read the proposed model’s sheet: what leaf weight is permitted, what supply is needed and which accessories are included? Do not apply one published model’s figures to every automatic glass door or assume that an electrically operated entrance includes a battery.
Explain the façade and access controls
Show nearby counters, furniture and air-conditioning equipment, and explain any requirement to restrict access after opening hours. Ask for glass, frame and finish specifications in the quotation and identify where staff will operate the controls. If the entrance forms part of an escape route, have the responsible project professional review its requirements. Describing a door as automatic is not evidence that it is suitable for that purpose.
Questions before handover
Request an explanation of operating modes, who may change them, the manual’s power-failure procedure and the service contact. Ask for the instructions and identifiers of the fitted operator and sensors. More than one authorized employee should know where these records are kept. Do not test the entrance by placing a body in its travel path or defeat a protective device to address repeated opening; arrange technical assessment.
